our story
summer 1989: the weather changed
We were traveling on Sugar Creek in a canoe as a rainstorm swept around the bend and nearly toppled the canoe with its strength. We paddled to the shore and huddled in the small field just steps away from the creek and surrounded by trees. We couldn't help but feel the weight of something extraordinary unfolding around us. It was as if the heavens had joined forces with the earth, resonating with a message that transcended the physical realm.
In that moment, God's gentle reminder pierced through the relentless rainfall, "I will pour out my Spirit like latter rain." The words washed over us like a balm, soothing our weary and anxious spirits and igniting a spark within our hearts. Little did we know then, the rain by the river was a herald for what lay ahead.
As the rainstorm gradually calmed to a gentle sprinkle, we opened our eyes to a transformed world. The deluge had cleansed everything it touched leaving the air crisper and clearer, the creek fuller and more swift. Trepidation faded away. We hopped into the canoe and paddled into the current. The ease with which we traversed the water surprised us. No longer did we need to struggle against the current, for it carried us effortlessly towards our destination.
It took years for us to comprehend the significance of that profound experience. In hindsight, we realized that the rainstorm was not just a mere downpour, but rather a divine revelation. God granted us a glimpse of the ministry that would unfold in our lives, a ministry where His Spirit would be poured out like the latter rain.
We embarked on a journey, seeking to understand the depth and magnitude of God's plan for us. Empowered by the knowledge bestowed upon us in that rainstorm, we embarked on a mission to touch lives with inspiration, encouragement, and healthy growth in relationship with God. The gentle water drops had symbolized the soft irresistible touch of the Holy Spirit, guiding and leading us through life's trials and tribulations.
Over the years, as we witnessed lives transformed and hearts healed, we began to realize the beauty of God's divine timing. Our encounter with the rainstorm by the river was not just a random event but a prophetic signifier of the future that awaited us. It became evident that God had entrusted us with His ministry, a calling to spread His love and light in a darkened world.
Through the lessons learned in that rain-soaked journey, we grew in faith, resilience, and compassion. We recognized the importance of surrendering to God's will, trusting in His promises, and embracing the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Our story became intertwined with the stories of countless others, as God's ministry unfolded.
Today, we look back on that rainfall by the river, we are filled with gratitude. It served as a whisper of divine wisdom, granting us foreknowledge of the ministry God would birth in and through us. The memory echos clearly and vividly in our minds, reminding us of the transformative power of God's love and the profound impact we can have when we surrender ourselves to His purpose.
Indeed, that rainfall by the river ceased but its message continues to resonate within us. We carry the memory of that day, etched deep within our hearts, as a constant reminder of the profound ways God works. With hearts overflowing with gratitude, we move forward, forever grateful for the rainfall that changed our lives and propelled us into His extraordinary ministry now called Rainfall Group, LLC.
Joel 2:23-29
23 “Be glad, O children of Zion,
and rejoice in the Lord your God,
for he has given the early rain for your vindication;
he has poured down for you abundant rain,
the early and the latter rain, as before.
24 “The threshing floors shall be full of grain;
the vats shall overflow with wine and oil.
25 I will restore[a] to you the years
that the swarming locust has eaten,
the hopper, the destroyer, and the cutter,
my great army, which I sent among you.
26 “You shall eat in plenty and be satisfied,
and praise the name of the Lord your God,
who has dealt wondrously with you.
And my people shall never again be put to shame.
27 You shall know that I am in the midst of Israel,
and that I am the Lord your God and there is none else.
And my people shall never again be put to shame.
28 “And it shall come to pass afterward,
that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh;
your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
your old men shall dream dreams,
and your young men shall see visions.
29 Even on the male and female servants
in those days I will pour out my Spirit.
